Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT
CBT is a term that is offten used when talking about the treatment of mental health issues. But what does it mean?
Cognitive: The "C" in CBT refers to Cognitive and this simply is about what we THINK and what we BELIEVE about ourselves, others and the world in general.
Behavioural: The "B" refers to what we DO, how we ACT and how we FEEL about the thoughts and beliefs we have about ourselves, others and the world.
Therapy: The "T" refers to a simple set of tools which can be applied to help to better cope with our thoughts and beliefs and to help us change our reactions and actions in response to these thoughts and beliefs.
An simple way to view CBT is "What you think is what you feel".
